I have over twenty years of public service in television, radio and digital content at Wisconsin Public Television and Radio, Lehigh Valley PBS, WTTW Chicago, WBEZ Chicago, WESA Pittsburgh and now am the General Manager of an NPR member station - KRCC - in Colorado Springs, C0.
I specialize in operations, media programming, systems, digital content production, direction & distribution including podcasts - community building, branding, social media best practices and managing operations staff, content creators and producers.
I was with folks from Serial, 99% Invisible, Criminal, Strangers and more sharing their strategy to success at the Podcast Movement conference this summer! I was on a panel talking about broadcast vs. podcast and also lead a PACKED session on how to develop strong content people will actually listen to.
From June 2011 to September 2015, I was the Director of Content & Programming at Essential Public Media Inc’s 90.5 WESA FM and WESA.fm in Pittsburgh, PA.
90.5 WESA is a new NPR news station that launched in July of 2011. I helped build this new organization from a jazz and news combo-university-owned license to the independent full-time news station it is today. I was hired three weeks before the switch and we had no permanent General Manager at the launch. I have gained boatloads of experience and knowledge in the last four years as we have expanded and I am happy to serve as a consultant for any organization in transition.
The opportunities for our content are limitless. We know we produce the best news and stories - just look at the iTunes top podcast list anytime - most are pubmedia offerings. I want to help propel us forward faster, seize the moment and become stronger financially.
Give me a shout; let's talk.
